Job Summary
Are you an experienced seafood procurement professional looking to join a high-volume, industry-leading food distributor? We're seeking a Seafood Commodity Buyer to manage purchasing across fresh, frozen, and value-added seafood categories. This role ensures product availability, competitive pricing, and strong supplier performance while supporting sales, service levels, and margin goals.

What You'll Do
- Purchase seafood products (fresh, frozen, value-added) based on demand, market conditions, and warehouse capacity
- Negotiate pricing, quantities, freight, and long-term agreements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with seafood processors, importers, and suppliers
- Monitor global seafood markets, seasonality, quotas, and catch volumes
- Maintain strong in-stock positions and respond quickly to short-notice needs
- Work closely with warehouse teams to ensure proper rotation, temperature control, and handling
- Control obsolete inventory and minimize shrinkage through proactive forecasting and purchasing discipline
- Provide product and pricing support to sales and collaborate with operations, category management, and finance
What You Bring
- High School Diploma/GED required (Bachelor's preferred)
- 2+ years of Seafood purchasing experience is required
- Foodservice, wholesale food, or retail distribution experience strongly required
- Strong negotiation, communication, and vendor-management skills
- Ability to analyze data, understand market trends, and make informed decisions
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment
